Media must report on Ariel Sharon's war crimes trials in Belgium

PMWATCH - May 7, 2002 -- As always trying to crush the slightest move towards an equitable, peaceful resolution, to stiffle the slightest stirring of hope for constructive dialog, to snuff out the faintest ray of light out of the Middle East darkness, Ariel Sharon is frantically waging a crude PR campaign to "prove" not only that that Arafat is not someone to negotiate with, but that even the Saudis are part of "the terror network". In all of this, the fact that serious legal proceedings have been underway for almost a year now against Mr. Sharon is basically ignored by the media.

Indeed, Anyone who has followed the media since June 19, 2001, the day a case was officially lodged in Belgium against Ariel Sharon, must have been struck by the reluctance with which these momentous events have been covered (or rather, NOT covered) here in the United States. The New York Times, for instance, simply refused to cover them for weeks on end: (See http://www.pmwatch.org/pmw/features/sharonlawsuit.html )

A new site has now been established at: http://www.indictsharon.net that follows the trials very closely. Please impress on the media to cover these trials. It is indeed huge news that the leader of America's closest ally is being taken to court for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Fill your personal information and add your comments about the need to cover the trials. You may also incluse the urls mentined here or any other information on the trials.
