PMWATCH
- May 9, 2002 -- For an institution that prides itself in
its intrepid and unapologetic quest for the truth, the US media
has displayed a remarkable degree of timidity and deference to
Israeli censors since the outbreak of the latest violence against
Palestinians in late March, 2002. A great deal of the truth has
been kept hidden from the eyes of journalists, and those who have
dared to deviate from the beaten path have had some severe punishment
meted out to them.
Below are
some press releases from the Committee to Protect Journalists.
Please press
upon the media the need to highlight to their readers and viewers
the extent to which the Israeli government is doing everything
it can to hamper the journalists in their quest to report on what
is taking place on the ground.
